At what age should your child first visit the dentist?

The first visit to the dentist should be around 3 years, however, we recommend bringing your child (children) along for your visits to become comfortable with the surroundings. This not only introduces the child to the dentist in a short and friendly manner, but also helps to prevent problems such as tooth decay, and helps to teach parents about their child’s cleaning needs.

At Hilltop Dental, we treat all children in a very friendly environment. This allows your child to relax during the initial visit and helps to alleviate fear of dentists. In the initial visit, we’ll do a quick check to ensure that all of the child’s teeth are in good condition, show both the parent and child how to properly brush and address any potential issues. It’s usually a short visit, around 30 minutes or so, in order to have the child in and out without a lot of stress.
